    Well-graded aggregate would lower the water demand of concrete mixture. The particles of well-graded aggregate can be densely packed in concrete, and hence the voids between them decrease. As a result, the strength of concrete is improved, permeability decreased, and therefore durability improved.

    This table is not related to loads. BS8110 provides a table for span to depth ratio which is based one total unfactored dead and imposed load. For instance, for 5KN/m^2 imposed on simply supported slab , D/L =29, 10KN/m^2, D/L=25, and 20KN/m^2, D/L=22.
