    Volume batching does a not accurate result. The voids are present in a large amount which affects the result. Literally, nowadays volume batching is avoided even for small projects.

    • Slump- Low to high
    • Less strength at 7 days and 28 days
    • Swelling of sand affects on 7 and 28 days strength of concrete.

    Weight batching give us an accurate and precise result, which also decrease construction problems in future.

    In weight batching, we actually measured a mass of sand.

    • Slump- medium to high
    • Higher-strength at 7 and 28 days.

    Truly speaking, weight batching is the best and accurate method for batching bcoz it gives accuracy, flexibility and simplicity. Various types of weight baching are used in mixing.

    Advantagess

    • high uniformity in proportion of the fresh and hardened state concrete.
    • uniform w/c ratio is present
    • easy to detect overruns or incorrect dosages.
    • slump varies from medium to very high slump.
    • comp strength is higher at w/c ratios and curing ages 7 to 28 days.
    • Construction speed is high

    You know what that the on-site evaluation of concrete strength is the biggest challenge in the condition assessment of existing infrastructure for the quality control of new construction.

    All parties agree that the strength of concrete is a critical parameter

    1. Compression test on concrete Core

    2. The pull-out test

    3. Rebound hammer for concrete strength

    4. Ultrasonic pulse velocity

    5. Combined non-destructive testing methods

    Generally, the type of work adopted will decide the method of batching.
    If we have small work of construction, then in that case volume batching adopted, otherwise weight batching adopted for large work.
    1- volume batching- it should not be adopted for large work because it involves bulking of sand (or fine aggregate). And thumb rule says that the weight of sand having bulking is much less than that of no bulking having the same volume. So, in this case, there are more chances of theft. So it should not be generally preferred.
    2- weight batching: it must be adopted for large work because of accurate batching quantity. Further, it doesn’t show the bulking problem.
    The cement should be batched by weight only irrespective of the batching method.
    **Conclusion: weight batching is more accurate and gives desired strength.

    Weigh batching gives the desired strength to concrete. There are many reasons for it.

    First of all, volume batching is an approximate process.

    • It doesn’t take into account the voids that will be present when the volume is measured.
    • Bulking of sand can not be corrected in this method. This leads to a nonuniform behavior in the concrete.
    • The concrete produced by volume batching is mostly from nominal mixes, and the water-cement ratio is not known. As a result, water is added until the desired workability is achieved. This reduces the strength of the concrete.

    Weigh batching is an accurate method of batching than volume batching because it is hard to find the exact volume of granular materials because of their voids.

    Weigh batching is usually preferred to volume batching. The main drawback of volume batching is that it doesn’t account for the bulking of sand. Due to this bulking, the strength of concrete is compromised.

     

    Weigh batching produces a high quality of concrete than the volume batching.

    Weight batching is accurate method for Accurate desire strength RCC.

    In this method, weight batches, or other weight equipment are used for batching of material. The compressive strength of RCC concrete is high at 7 and 28 days in weight batching. Slump is medium to very high in weight batching whenever in volume batching we are getting low to high slump.

    Weigh batching is the order of the day.

    You should choose weigh batching over volume batching for consistently accurate results.
