    Here, from a geotechnical perspective you can’t differentiate silt and clay on the basis of grain size because it can be irrelevant to material behaviour.

    Silt and clay are both the result of the physical and chemical breakdown of the minerals in rocks. They main difference is in chemical composition and particle size.

    Silt is composed of silicate minerals, or those containing silicon and oxygen.

    Clay is composed of metal silicates, or silicates with metals like magnesium or aluminum associated with it.

    But in terms of handling the two as part of an experiment, the main discernible difference is particle size. Sand particles are larger than silt particles which are in turn larger than clay particles. Silt particles are about 0.05 to 0.002 millimeters in size. Clay particles are smaller than micrometer in size. So silt particles are too small to really be felt with your fingers like grains of sand. But wet silt will feel very smooth like finely ground baking flour. Clay particles are so small that they will simply feel sticky. You won’t be able to move them around your fingers like silt particles. This stickiness will be the main difference between the two in terms of touch.

Why do we mostly use green and white colored GI sheets for roofing and side cladding of industrial sheds? Why are there no other color combinations?

    Thanks for the answer. I agree that there are other combinations like blue and white etc, but is there any specific reason for mostly using green and blue along with white?

    Presuming that you do not want to opt for higher studies (otherwise you must have been sure by now),I would suggest you to give time to yourself,actually introspect and find out if there is something that interests you in the field,if you want a job in the core field?…

    These are the basic ideas I have-

    1. If you money is what you want and you don’t care whether your career grows up or is stalled, PSU is what you are looking for!

    Prepare for GATE because PSUs barely do campus recruitment now.(for Civil Engineers)

    2. If you want your technical knowledge to be put to test,you want to earn by toiling and learning,go for the private sector.If you don’t know yet,

    • Mediocre CTC (about 3.5-5lpa,for trainees)
    • Heavy Workload,about 12hrs,6days a week

      BUT

    • You can expect something really big after 5-6 years of meaningful experience.You can go on a promotion spree or switch jobs with better packages!
    • You can also take up MBA/M.Tech during your course as an employee,depending whether you want to manage stuff or toil harder on the technicalities section.

    From my view M.Tech will be the best option after B.Tech because it holds many job opportunities with it. A candidate can get job easily in research and development organizations, manufacturing firms, and IT companies as project manager, Research Associate and Senior Engineers.

    The experimental results show that an optical fiber can be easily combined with concrete and that the POF could provide a steady light transmitting ratio. Moreover, the FBG can be used as a sensing element for strain and temperature.

    I am a researcher in nanotechnology and its uses in construction fields. In simple words,” The technology which works with nanoscale is called nanotechnology”. In Civil engineering, if we can work on nanoscale, i.e. 0 to 10 nanometer, and able to change the molecular properties of cement, then that modified cement concrete is called nano-engineered cement concrete.  Nowadays, it is possible to alter the cement properties according to our use.

    1. i.e. increasing workability without increasing water content.
    2. Increasing setting time without adding any admixtures.
    3. Increasing strength without and additives. etc
