Flexural strength is the maximum strength (stress) either yield or up to fracture that a structure or element or a member could bear. It could be measures in terms of modulus of rupture at yield also.
Where in modulus of rupture is just showing the present stress condition within the member or element itself. If the member is on the verge of failure i.e on the verge of fracture than the modulus of rupture will give Flexural strength.

Actually both are inter-related.
Modulus of rupture is the behaviour of a material under direct tension.
Where as, Flexural strength is the behaviour of a structure in direct bending (like in beams, slabs, etc.)
Bending occurs due to development of tensile force on tension side of the structure. Hence, both are interrelated.

Hi,
First, you need to know no that modulus of rupture is also known as a flexural strength or band strength or even transverse rupture strength.
modulus of rupture is generally a measure of the tensile strength of beam and slab of concrete.
Following are some tests to determine the flexural strength
Refer Indian Standard code 456:2000 for various other tests to determine a modulus of rupture of beam or column.
