    What is chases, rebates and throating in stone masonry work?

    Foot compactor: Various type of compaction equipments are available for compaction. Generally foot compactor is used for cohesive type of soil. Meaning of G45: G45 means target strength is 45MPa of concrete mix. Answer to above question: Yes, foot compactor can achieve soil density 45 MPa easily.

    For corrugation process steel, aluminum, nickel, fiberglass, and plastics are used, the manufactured sheets are called in Nainital corrugated sheets.

    Estimation of gates or steel for doors or Window grills depends upon the length and width of the structure. It also depends upon the design that we adopted for construction and types of joints example welding etc. So the estimation of steel gates is different for different sizes.     Estimation of gates or steel for doors or Window grills depends upon the length and width of the structure.

    It also depends upon the design that we adopted for construction and types of joints example welding etc. So the estimation of steel gates is different for different sizes.

    For small-sized windows, less quantity of steel is required thus cost decreases. and for big windows, a large amount of steel is required which increases cost.

    In market door grills are of following types:

    1. SS laser cutting grills – 850/ sq feet
    2. Safety door grill- 950/sq. Feet
    3. Stainless steel door grills- 600/sq. Feet
    4. Matt, mirror stainless steel gates- 1,200/sq. Feet
    5. Cross pattern door grills- 30/sq. Feet
    6. Laminated door grills- 250/sq. Feet

    So the estimation cost of door grills is depended upon square feet area,  design and types of materials used.

    Rebate is a top edge cut on the stone so that it does not allow the rainwater to penetrate inside the stone mortar or joint and flows quickly from the horizontal surface of stone masonry.

    Throating is a groove provided inside the cornice, sill, and coping to prevent water flows with the wall surface and allows it to discharge away from the wall surface. It protects walls from the impact of rainwater.

    Chases is a stones course provided at the top of the wall. It also protects from rainwater. It is generally constructed in an ornamental design.

    Generally, strength is of two types

    1. Compressive strength
    2. Tensile strength

    If you are asking only for concrete then concrete is weak in tensile loads than steel.

    Structural Steel has the greatest strength as compared to concrete. reasons are as follows:

    1. Elastic modulus of concrete is lesser than Steel. This makes concrete weaker than Steel in tensile load.
    2. Strength to weight ratio of concrete is lower. Because the size of Steel reinforcement is very small and thus weight reduced.
    3. Steel is a factory manufactured and have a homogeneous structure. It is also well compacted, Which makes it better and stronger than concrete. Concrete is a mixture of cement, sand, aggregate and water where it is made at the site. so no homogeneous structure is formed.

     

    • compressive strength of reinforced concrete – 4000 psi
    • Compressive strength of structural Steel – 25000 psi
