    Very important question before providing clearances to pour concrete. I would follow following steps. Ensure Contractor has bar bending schedule and approved drawing.     Very important question before providing clearances to pour concrete. I would follow following steps.

    1. Ensure Contractor has bar bending schedule and approved drawing.
    2. Ensure reinforcement used are approved grade and test certificates are in place.
    3. Check  diameter of rebar ( reinforcement)
    4. Check spacing
    5. Check banding radius
    6. Check number of bars
    7. Check laps are of proper length. Some time couplers are used to join the reinforcement. Couplers must be approved.
    8. Check proper cover to rebar is in place.
    9. Covers should be approved
    10. Check the reinforcement installed does not sag  or move. For this ensure you use chairs.
    11. Tie the rebars together using soft annealed lining wire and turn the know inside.
    12. Reinforcement must be clean without any dirt or coating.
    13. Some time special reinforcement steel is provided around openings. Ensure this is in place.
    14. It is normal for QC departments to use check lists for this.

    There is no formula available to calculate the life span of any structure.

    Different parameters we should take into mind while doing a calculation of life span of structure, they are as follows;

    Building Construction Material:

    • RCC structure

    Structural Design:

    • Mostly influencing parameter.
    • Vary as per Building Construction Material.

    The locality of structure construction: E

    • Earthquake-prone area
    • HFL (High Flood Level) zone

    Rigid pavements because of their nature, allow for a larger variation in subgrade material (in terms of strength), unlike flexible pavements. That is why rigid pavements can be built over almost any kind of soils with appropriate ground improvement. The general range for CBR is 2% to 14% or 15%. IfRead more

    Rigid pavements because of their nature, allow for a larger variation in subgrade material (in terms of strength), unlike flexible pavements. That is why rigid pavements can be built over almost any kind of soils with appropriate ground improvement.

    The general range for CBR is 2% to 14% or 15%. If it is found below 6%, then the code specifies some necessary subgrade improvement before laying the concrete slab directly over it.

    Also, the CBR could be increased up to say 40% or 50% by ground improvement, and still, the subgrade may be fit for rigid pavements.

    Defect Liability period is a particular amount of time given to the contractor after the completion of a project to check if the project is delivered in good shape, whereby if any defects be detected, the contractor is to fix the defect for free during the defect liability period.

    Disadvantages of polythene sheets:

    • Polythene sheets can be easily blown off and this is one of the most disadvantages of such type of curing process.
    • This does not windy weather.
    • Polythene sheets may cause discolouration.

    2. Actually, corrugation increases the bending strength of the sheet when the direction is perpendicular to the corrugations.

    3. Steel must be stretched to bend in the direction of perpendicular to the corrugations.
