    Meaning Of Lumpsum:

    The lump-sum is simply a single payment of money which is opposed to a series of payments made over time such as an annuity.


    The quantity of steel is different in different structural elements because the load taken by different elements are different.


    • Slab or lintel – 0.7 to 1% (55 to  78.5 kg per metre)

    • Columns – 0.8 to 6% (62.8 to 471 kg per metre cube)

    Why Install it in the slab? A solar panel is not a load bearing structure. You cannot use it for structural purposes. That is simply a bad decision because solar panels are costly and hence they need to be kept safe from damage. We can install them above the slab though if we wish to. But again, slaRead more

    Why Install it in the slab? A solar panel is not a load bearing structure. You cannot use it for structural purposes. That is simply a bad decision because solar panels are costly and hence they need to be kept safe from damage. We can install them above the slab though if we wish to.

    But again, slabs are horizontal and it’s foolish to install a horizontal solar panel. You’ll never see it that way anywhere except for at the equator. That is because sunlight mostly falls at a slant and to grab maximum intensity, the solar panel has to be perpendicular to the sun rays which will never be horizontal. Beyond the tropics, sunlight will never fall vertical ever in a year. So, no chance of installing a solar panel in the slab. Only if there’s a non load bearing slab cast to hold the solar panel, then it might be possible but that too is a bad idea because it will unnecessarily add to building cost, time and weight.

    Rebate is a top edge cut on the stone so that it does not allow the rainwater to penetrate inside the stone mortar or joint and flows quickly from the horizontal surface of stone masonry.

    Throating is a groove provided inside the cornice, sill, and coping to prevent water flows with the wall surface and allows it to discharge away from the wall surface. It protects walls from the impact of rainwater.

    Chases is a stones course provided at the top of the wall. It also protects from rainwater. It is generally constructed in an ornamental design.

    Estimate pouring speed and match it production speed to avoid waiting and approaching it’s setting time, keep home work-ready with trials for options (e.g., redosing with SP) for reusing leftover concrete, inform Batching plant when 10% of the pour is balanced and reduce trucks carrying concrete thereafter, explore the scope for casting precast blocks from leftover / used in testing, etc. concrete,
    Deploy a supervisor to be in touch with Batching Plant from site to hold or slow down concrete supply if there is any issue at the site, keep critical spare parts of Concrete Pumps, etc. available at site 24 x 7, deploy an experienced Pump operator and a Concrete specialist at the site

    1. Small precast forms(curbs, drain slabs, etc., which are needed in the project) to be kept ready at the site near the RMC pouring area fresh concrete waste needs to be handled into these forms. Optimum labor to be maintained to handle these operations.

    2. Retrieve the aggregates by washing off the waste concrete.

    3. Order the right quantity of concrete required to finish the pour, hence reducing the wastage.

    4. Have at least one spare pump at the site when pouring a large quantity of concrete.

    5. Have the right waste concrete segregation pits at RMC plants to wash the wet concrete and to retrieve the coarse aggregates.
