    General facts about the lotus temple are already mentioned in the above comments. Here, I describe details of a stone used in this great structure. Encouraged by the lotus flower, the design of Lotus Temple for the House of Worship in New Delhi is composed of 27 free-standing marble-clad “petals” arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides.

    The nine doors of the Lotus Temple open onto a central hall slightly more than 40 meters tall. The surface of the House of Worship is made of white marble from the mountain in Greece, the same marble from which many ancient monuments (including the Parthenon and other Bahas Houses of Worship are built). Along with its nine surrounding ponds and gardens, the Lotus Temple property comprises 26 acres.

    The architect was an Iranian, Fariborz Sahba who now resides in Canada. He was approached in 1976 to design the Lotus Temple and later oversaw its construction. It is one of the highest quality of marble, on which many monuments and idols of Greek Gods and Goddess are made.

    Hi, Kadappa stone of 2" ( 50.8mm ) having its density in the range of 5.0 to 5.4 kg/cm^3 with a water absorption ratio of less than 2%. After calculation, you may found that at 6-meter height, it is not able to bear the weight of a 500-liter water tank. Thus, support in the middle must be provided fRead more

    Hi,

    Kadappa stone of 2″ ( 50.8mm ) having its density in the range of 5.0 to 5.4 kg/cm^3 with a water absorption ratio of less than 2%.

    After calculation, you may found that at 6-meter height, it is not able to bear the weight of a 500-liter water tank.

    Thus, support in the middle must be provided for stability and to increase the bearing strength of kadapa so that it lasts for a long duration.

    Mechanism of rotating Tower is very interesting to understand. 

    1)The whole steel structure is constructed with reference to Central Core and highly reinforced Foundation.


    2)Driving system- every flower in the rotating Tower can be rotated around the central Core which is connected by rails.


    3) Load cases: Different loads that are dead load life load wind load and earthquake loads are taken into account while designing the rotating Tower.


    4)Optimisation analysis: The stresses and deformation directly acting on the core of the rotating tower are very high.


    5)Alternative designs of the rotating tower:

    1. Alternative 1- Architects design
    2. Alternative 2- higher concrete grade
    3. Alternative 3- increased wall thickness
    4. Alternative 4- outrigger braced concrete Core
    5. Alternative 5- perimeter columns with Stiff floors

    6) Architect name:

    • RotatingTower is developed by the Italian architect David Fisher.

    7)  Shape of rotating Tower:

    • Because of the rotation of all floors can be possible independently, the building can transform into every different imaginable shape.

    8) Height of rotating Tower:

    • The original design of the rotating tower height is approximately 435 metre.

    9) Current need:

    • The current design of the stabilizing core of the rotating tower doesn’t intersect any essential need. Hence investigation of the structure according to the stiffness and strength is really very important parameter.

    10)Speciality of rotating Tower:

    • All the floors of the rotating tower can separately rotate with reference to the common axis located at the centre of the tower.
    • Rotating Tower is only one building in which it’s all floors can rotate 360-degree angle.
    • Every Apartment can spin individually in any direction

    Rafter: Meaning: Rafter is one simple sloped structural member which is generally made up of wood. Purpose: It provides better ease in construction It distributes roof loads We can use rafter where the span is limited. It highly contributes to the economy.

    Ballast is a base for rails that are made up of stone used to hold the railway track on its position when loading from the railway’s impact on the railway track.

    • Now it is instead of stone a cement concrete ballast is used. It has a long life and High durability.
    • In ancient days, wood ballast was used.
    • Steel sections are also used as a ballast for railways tracks.

    Hi, sunlight is the best source of light and energy. So to use effectively, the placing of windows and other openings and reflective surfaces matters a lot.

    As a civil engineer, it’s our aim to maximize the comfort of the user and reduce the energy consumption for saving electricity.

    The design of the building should be like this the rays of sunlight it will be scattered from the wall and reflect and cover a maximum area of the house. There will be no direct sunlight on polar sites of the walls that are north facing and south-facing. Providing large Windows is a good option to maximize the use of natural sources of light.

    In the present scenario, translucent concrete is been used as concrete which transfers the light in various commercial buildings to reduce the use of artificial electricity. This is a great gift from nanotechnology.

    the position of lights inside the room must be at the middle of the wall and not at the corners so that lights spread 180 degrees.
